When my husband was a child, his mother didn’t let him tear the wrapping paper. Each gift had to be opened carefully, so the paper could be reused for someone else’s present. Practical, yes—but as a kid, he just wanted to rip it open with excitement.

That story stayed with me. It made me realize how deeply I wanted our own children to feel the joy of tearing into something just for them—without guilt, without rules.
